First Year Orchestra is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students that have never played a string instrument before, or students that have been playing for less than a year. Students will work on posture, position, note-reading, rhythm, performance etiquette and audience etiquette. These students participate in concerts, solo contest, and the spring festival at the end of the year.
Concert Orchestra is made up of mostly 7th grade students that have been playing 1-2 years. Students continue to work on basic elements of posture, position, note-reading, rhythm, performance etiquette, audience etiquette, and sight-reading ability. These students participate in concerts, solo and ensemble contest, and the spring festival at the end of the year.
Philharmonic Orchestra is made up of mostly 7th and 8th grade students that have been playing 1-2 years. Students work on basic elements of posture, position, performance etiquette, and audience etiquette, but more advanced levels of note-reading, rhythm, and sight-reading ability. These students participate in concerts, solo and ensemble contest, and the spring festival at the end of the year.
Symphonic Orchestra is the most advanced orchestra and is made up of mostly 8th grade students that have been playing 2-3 years. Students continue working on basic elements of posture, position, performance etiquette, and audience etiquette, but also work on more advanced levels of note-reading, rhythm, sight-reading abilities and audition preparation. These students participate in concerts, the region audition process, solo and ensemble contest, and the spring festival at the end of the year.
